Il nome si collega direttamente all’anno di nascita, il 2011, nel quale si è festeggiato il centocinquantesimo anniversario dell’unità d’Italia ed è stato scelto come riconoscimento e atto d’affetto nei confronti di Piacenza, città Primogenita che per prima votò l’annessione al Piemonte.
Dopo diversi giorni di audizioni, alle quali si sono presentati giovani artisti provenienti da tutta Italia e dalle più diverse nazionalità, si è delineato l’organico la cui peculiarità è la giovane età della quale si intende cogliere la freschezza interpretativa e l’entusiasmo.
La 15Orchestra di Piacenza nasce su una base cameristica caratterizzata da una spiccata flessibilità al punto tale da raggiungere anche l’organico sinfonico con cui ha debuttato il 31 dicembre

2011 al Teatro Municipale di Piacenza con il concerto “San Silvestro a Teatro” dove ha riscosso un incoraggiante successo di pubblico e di critica (”la formazione è notevole e l’ha dimostrato” da Libertà 2 gennaio 2012).

The name of the orchestra is referring directly to its birth year – 2011 – when it took place the 150th celebration for the Italy Unity. This particular choice marks the acknowledgement and affection for Piacenza, the First-Born City, the first one that voted positively for the annexation to the reign of Piemonte.
After the audition days, when lot of young Italian and foreign artists occurred, the musicians of the orchestra were decided. The distinctive feature of the choice was the young age, in order to catch the performance freshness and their enthusiasm.
The 15Orchestra was born from a chamber ensemble characterized by a strong flexibility. In this way, the number of musician reached soon the symphony orchestra, that makes its debut in the “San Silvestro a Teatro” concert (Sylvester Concert) at the Teatro Municipale di Piacenza last 31st December. This performance received great encouraging critical and public acclaim (“the orchestra is remarkable and it’s shown”)​
